Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Wellness Synergy, doing business as Beth Frates MD ("we", "our" or "the Company"), handles information collected from people who visit www.bethfratesmd.com (the "Site") or otherwise share personal information with us ("Users"). By using the Site, you agree to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your information as described here. Please read it carefully.

Please Do Not Send Medical Information Through the Site

The Site is for education and general information. It is not a way to get medical care, and nothing on it creates a doctor-patient relationship. Please do not put medical or health details in the newsletter signup, contact form, or email to bethfrates@gmail.com. In an emergency, call 911.

Grounds for Collecting Information

We process personal information (any information that can reasonably identify you) to respond to your inquiries, deliver coaching, speaking, workshop and consulting services you request, send the newsletter you sign up for, run and improve the Site, protect our legitimate interests, and meet our legal obligations.

What Information We Collect

We collect two types of information.

Non-personal information cannot identify you. It includes aggregated usage data and technical details sent by your device, such as browser type, operating system, language preference, access time, pages viewed, and clicks. We use it to keep the Site working and to improve it.

Personal information can identify you, directly or with reasonable effort. It includes:

  • Newsletter signup: your name and email address.
  • Contact and inquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number, organization, and whatever you choose to write in your message.
  • Device information: IP address and unique identifiers collected automatically, and approximate location derived from your IP address.

How We Receive Information About You

  • When you voluntarily give us your details through a form or email.
  • When you use or browse the Site, through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From service providers such as our website host and analytics provider.

How We Use Information

We do not rent or sell your information. We use it to:

  • Respond to your questions and inquiries about coaching, speaking, workshops, and consulting.
  • Send the newsletter and updates about Dr. Frates's work, if you signed up.
  • Send notices and administrative messages about our services.
  • Run statistical and analytical reviews that help us improve the Site.
  • Keep the Site secure and prevent misuse.

We may share personal information with trusted service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, email and newsletter platform, and analytics provider. They may use it only to provide services to us. [CONFIRM the actual providers.] These providers may be located in other countries.

We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith it is reasonably necessary to: comply with law, regulation, legal process or a government request; enforce our policies; investigate or prevent fraud, security issues or illegal activity; defend legal claims; or protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users, or others.

Cookies and Analytics

A cookie is a small piece of information a website places on your device. We use cookies to let you move between pages, remember preferences, and understand how the Site is used. The Site uses:

  • Session cookies, which last only for your browsing session.
  • Persistent cookies, which stay on your device for a set period, for example to remember your preferences on repeat visits.
  • Third-party cookies, set by other services that run content on a page, such as embedded videos or analytics.

We use the analytics built into our website platform and, at times, Google Analytics. Google Analytics collects information such as how often you visit, which pages you view, and your IP address, rather than your name. We use it only to improve the Site and do not combine it with information that identifies you. Google's use of that information is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on. You can also remove or block cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the Site may not work properly. We do not use advertising or retargeting pixels.

Embedded Content and Third-Party Sites

The Site embeds or links to content from other services, including YouTube videos and social feeds (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram), and links to outside sites such as WebMD, Mass General Brigham, and podcast and media pages. Those services may set their own cookies and collect information when you view or click their content. This policy covers only information we collect. Their practices are their own, so please read their privacy policies.

Your Rights

You may ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we process personal information about you, and give you access to it.
  • Give you a copy of the information you provided, in a common, machine-readable format.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of it.
  • Remove you from the newsletter at any time (use the unsubscribe link in any email).

These rights are not absolute and may be limited by our legitimate interests and legal requirements. If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with data protection law, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To use any of these rights, email bethfrates@gmail.com.

Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, answer your inquiries, and meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our policies. We delete or anonymize information we no longer need. We may correct, complete, or remove inaccurate or incomplete information at any time.

Email Marketing

If you join the newsletter, we may use your name and email address to send updates about Dr. Frates's work and offerings. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, and we will remove you from the list when you do. We may still send important administrative messages, such as service notices.

How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable, industry-standard safeguards to protect the information we collect and expect our service providers to do the same. No website or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that no one will gain unauthorized access.

Transfers Outside Your Country

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. If you are in the EEA or UK, we transfer your data only where the destination has an adequate level of protection or where legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are in place.

Business Changes

If we are involved in a sale, merger, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred. The new owner would take on the commitments in this policy.

Children

The Site is not designed for or directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has given us personal information, please contact bethfrates@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes take effect when the revised policy is posted, and the "Last modified" date above will change. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the changes.
